Auckland Pharmacy Students Association Careers Evening

Last week, I had the honour of being invited to speak at the annual Pharmacy Student Careers Evening. It was a wonderful opportunity to share insights with aspiring pharmacists about the diverse career paths available within our profession.

Reflecting on my own journey was inspiring, but even more so was hearing from the other speakers and learning about the exciting paths they've taken in pharmacy.

Among the notable speakers were Emma Griffiths, a Practice Pharmacist and Clinical Lead at ProCare; Peter Yoo, the Strategic Access and Partnerships Lead at Novartis; Natasha Pool, a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist and Prescriber; and Peiky Kuan and Esther Sohn, both Pharmacists at CompoundLabs.

I emphasised to the students that PSNZ is their professional home, regardless of the pharmacy area they choose. I wanted them to understand that we, as the umbrella organisation for the profession, are committed to supporting them at every step of their journey as pharmacists.

The evening showcased the vast array of career pathways available to pharmacy students, whether in hospital, primary, or community pharmacy settings, or in roles that utilise their pharmacy expertise in new and innovative ways.
